James P. McCanna received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering (Photonics) in 2011, and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 2006 from the University of California, San Diego. During this time, he worked on the development of electrokinetic sample preparation technologies, energy generation via concentrated solar power, and energy harvesting for wireless monitoring. He has served as a Research Engineer for Biological Dynamics, Inc., assisting in the development of point of care health monitoring systems, and previously managed in-house battery testing protocols at Powergenix, Inc. He has an issued US patent on solar power technology for residential and industrial applications.
